Biography

Jane Bang was born in Manhattan, New York and grew up in neighboring borough Brooklyn. She was the only child to a Russian mother (born in Moscow) and an African father (born in Tanzania), both of whom were scientists. Jane demonstrated creativity at a young age, and began playing piano at the age of 6, guitar at 12, and composing music through computer software at 14. During her years in high school, she took an interest in photography and assisted an award winning photojournalist. Jane attended the Brooklyn Technical High School of Science and Engineering before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the arts, where she attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. After college, she worked as a photographer for fashion catalogs while moonlighting as a nightlife photographer.

Jane began her career as a musician in Marina del Rey, California, when a song she posted on her website garnered attention from numerous internet blogs. A fan base quickly formed and prompted invitations to perform at live music venues and collaborations with similar genre artists. In 2007, Jane travelled to Paris, France, for her first international performance, which turned into 5 years of touring. During this time she published songs with Zooland Records, Flat Frog Music, Severe Records, and Ultra Music, a division of Sony. In 2012, Jane retired from the music industry to pursue a slower-paced lifestyle and travelled the third world where she studied and embraced buddhism. However, numerous requests from fans propelled a resurgence, and in 2014 she began composing new music and DJing for dance clubs in Los Angeles and San Francisco. In February of 2015, Jane partnered with Seattle producer Qreepz to compose a song called “Lay U Down”, and the collaboration developed into a 5 song EP. Her new music and videos are being released independently across all digital media beginning April 2015.
